Finding your Red Rubber Ball

My fiance and I had the priviledge of visiting the INDIEana Handicraft Exchange as part of IMAF this weekend. The Harrison Center (which happens to be our wedding venue for our March wedding) holds the festival each year, and it was our second year attending. We were definitely in our element at the festival. It is EVERYTHING we truly love (maybe myself a little more so than Alec) like art, music, handmade, vintage, local artists, tattoos, sunglasses, cute shoes, and so much more. I was able to reconnect with some great people I had met last year, like Backwoods Belle, and meet many new people like Slothpop, bird trouble, lindenlime, katydid, two happy hearts, and so many others. As an artist, its so crucial for me to get inspiration from anything and everything I can and remember why I love what I do so much. It reminds me of a book I read last semester and re-read only a few weeks ago called The Rules of the Red Rubber Ball. It is a small illustrated book written by and based on the life of Kevin Carroll. The book tells the story of Kevin's life, highlighting the fact that Kevin found something he truly loves doing and embraced it. It motivates and inspires you to remember that your job/profession should be something you truly love doing. Its about finding that thing or idea that makes you feel happy, inspires you do more and work harder, that thing that you would do for free if you had to because you love it so much. My grandpa who passed away about 8 years ago once told me that if you find something that you truly love, you will never have to work a day in your life. I will never forget that. I've found my red rubber ball. I know what makes me happy, inspires me, allows me to dream of the future....art. I can't wait to see what the future holds for me, with my fiance right there by my side encouraging me every step of the way. Design, creativity, art, illustration, photography, its what excites me, keeps me going, and hopefully, one day pays the bills. I am truly blessed to have my red rubber ball. Have you found yours?

What would you do for free?
What activties enthrall you?
What in life do you find irresistable, a source of inspiration, a reason to get out of bed?
What dreams do you chase?
What topics do you love to discuss & ponder?
Whats your prime source of joy?

Until my next thought,
